Description
The Earth is a black woman,
And here’s the reasons why.
Her brown skin becomes the soil
That nourishes all life.
Her afro grows the forests,
All natural and untamed.
Her hips shaped the rolling hills
And valleys that remain.
Gold adorns her arms
Inspiring queens of the Nile,
And waters wave within her robs
As oceans spread for miles.
The stars wish that they can match
The twinkle in her eyes,
And though she is tough and resolved,
Her heart is open wide.
Ah, if only all the world
could try to comprehend
her pride, passion, and radiance;
yes, the earth is a black woman.

Heyo
I did this as part of a group final project in my Daughters of Africa class (art history). I was pretty proud of it, so I thought I'd post it here too as it is also on the project tumblr page.
